Toronto Opens Earl Bales Ski And Snowboard Centre

TORONTO: The City of Toronto’s Earl Bales Ski and Snowboard Centre is now open for residents and visitors to enjoy. Weather dependent, the Centre is usually open until mid-March.

The main hill is open for both registered lessons and leisure skiing. The beginner hill and racer hill remain closed while crews build the base layer and groom snow accumulation. Weather permitting, staff are preparing for the beginner hill to open next week.

The daily operation, opening and closing of the centre is weather and snowfall-dependent, and residents should check the current conditions at www.toronto.ca/ski before heading out.

Information on hours of operation, fees for lift tickets and passes, service alerts, and rental equipment information is available on the website. Helmets are required for all participants registered in lessons and are highly recommended for patrons of all ages.While skiing and snowboarding do have fees to participate, the City offers many free winter recreation programs and activities.

Mayor John Tory said: “I would like to thank City staff for working so diligently and quickly to get this ski hill up and running as soon as the weather could permit this winter. I invite all Torontonians to take full advantage of the Earl Bales Ski and Snowboard Centre, and all of the different venues across our city that are open for residents to enjoy through the winter months.”

Earl Bales Ski and Snowboard Centre has:

• one beginner hill: rope tow, all ages

• one main hill: three runs that start at the top of the hill

- take one chairlift (sits four people) to the top

• a race hill: for general public use when not in use by ski racing groups

• washrooms (access from both inside and outside the building)

• accessible ski chalet.
